Induction Programme for New or Recently Appointed Headteachers

To support new or recently appointed Headteachers and Headteachers new to Norfolk, a group of experienced Headteachers has worked with the Local Authority to establish a new induction programme.

The Autumn term induction day will take place on Friday 14th September 2018, 10.00-16.00 at the Professional Development Centre. Any new heads wishing to attend can book themselves onto the meeting through the SLA website – please navigate to the "Partnership Development" training section (not "Teaching and Learning") and search for course reference PDT-0918-T001. If you have any difficulties booking a place, please contact Chris Adlem 01603 224334.

We would encourage Chairs of Governors to book their new Headteacher on to the day if their Headteacher has not yet started in post.

The day will include a range of important introductions, updates, essential information and an outline of the educational landscape of the county. In addition, all new Headteachers will be allocated an experienced Head as a mentor and these mentors will also be present for the day. Please click here to view the programme for the day.

The first induction day will be followed by another in each of the spring and summer terms and these days, along with the allocation of a mentor, will be free of charge to all schools in Norfolk, regardless of status. An opportunity for new Heads to have a further enhanced offer of support and development will be available in their second year after appointment.
