Child Employment Awareness
April is National Child Employment Month, and a chance for us to highlight to you the law with regards to the employment of children of compulsory school age.
The Local Authority is responsible for ensuring 13 to 16-year-olds who either intend to work, or already have a job, hold a valid child work permit. Legislation regulates the types of work and number of hours young people can and cannot do. This is to ensure young people are working safely and that the work does not affect their wellbeing or education.
Please visit our website www.norfolk.gov.uk/childemployment to find out more, or email us at childemployment.edu@norfolk.gov.uk.
Attached is our child employment flyer, please share this with parents and carers to help further raise awareness.
Please note: This does not apply to work experience placements
