Star Accounts Upgrade 5.70

Upgrade Version 5.70 of Star Accounts will be released with the December (Period 9) download on Tuesday 07th January 2014. Please follow the instructions attached below to perform the upgrade.


If the automatic AVCO upgrade fails to successfully upgrade your system (i.e. the Version Number shown on the Main Menu does not change to 5.70) please attempt the manual upgrade from the Star Accounts toolbar (see Section 1 of the Star Accounts User Guide).


Within this upgrade the following changes have been made which you need to be aware of:

  • Purchasing Card Recharges: Star Accounts has been updated to reflect the changes made to the purchasing procedure in line with BarclayCard Spend Management. Further information regarding the new procedures can be found within the new elearning courses provided by Schools Finance (please refer to MI Sheet 268/13 for booking details).
  • ESPO Online: ESPO have stated that their preferred method for receiving orders is via their online ordering system. Within the 5.70 upgrade the ESPO online feature will automatically be switched on for all datafile excluding School Funds. Please refer to Section 7 of the Star Accounts user guide for further details.
  • Please Note: Orders can be raised in Star Accounts as normal and then uploaded to the ESPO website, or raised within the ESPO online website and imported into Star Accounts.
  • Trip Management: Several enhancements have been made to the system to aid the invoicing and income collection for school trips / visits. Please refer to the Frequently Asked Question “How do I manage a trip within Star Accounts?” for further details.
